Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes

Individuals diagnosed with either diabetes or pre-diabetes work with our Registered Dietitian to better understand how food choices impact glucose metabolism in the body. Both intuitive eating and mindful eating principles are integrated into nutrition counseling for diabetes and pre-diabetes as appropriate. Diabetes may co-occur with eating disorders, which can potentially have serious medical consequences.

Treatment is approached from a weight-neutral stance. Joyful movement can be integrated into one's routine to further support more normalized insulin and glucose responses. Approaching behavior changes from a place of self-care often helps individuals mitigate the stress response, which can further regulate glucose and insulin levels, as well as promote healing from disordered eating symptoms. Medication management may also be appropriate for some individuals, who are evaluated by our medical providers
